This native american carving is carved from a piece of aspen of a tree that was knocked over in a storm we had. I love the lightness in color.

This was a nice clean piece of wood I drew a rough sketch of what I wanted to carve and started to make the general shape of the face.

You can see the neck starting to form and the shape of the head.

I then started the neck and you can see the nose and eye sockets begging to form.

You can slowly see the neck tie and the headdress.

The nose now has nostriles and you can see the headdress is more defined.

Details around the nose and mouth are in place.

Next I put in the eyes and started the hair.

The last couple of steps I did some last shaping for the entire carving
