Well I did not get any carvings up on ebay last week so I better put two on this week.  I spent last week camping in Idaho and didn't spend as much time carving. We had a good time camping and playing. This is a carving that I finished today.

This is a piece of aspen that I made some carving blanks out of.

I almost always start by defining where my eye sockets will go and then start to form a nose.

I have the basic shape of the eyes and nose. I have drawn in what will be the head dress of what I call a viking.

After I got the nose and eyes roughed out I started to put in the eyes and you can see where I have drawn in his chin.

I put stop cuts right  above the eyebrows so that I can cut back to where his headband will be.

Part of his head dress will be horns so you can just start to see the horns as they are taking shape. I also made a stop cut under his chin and cut back up to the cut.

I am ready to start on some details. It is all roughed out.

The first detail that I worked on is putting in some eyes.

Now the horns are starting to show along with his neck and shirt.

It was still a little rough so I brought out some sandpaper and smoothed things out a little.

Here are the pair that I did this week.
